R1300 GSA top box, what news?

Thanks for the heads up - my dealer sadly has no idea what’s going on with the top box. I am going to get Bumot kit instead. I have tours planned in April and June.

I have ordered Bumot top case and panniers in Frozen Grey from Adventure Bike Shop. Apparently the colour is similar to the R1300 GSA Triple Black’s fuel tank.

All looks good, great Bumot build quality, big unrestricted spaces (no plastic lip) and a narrow pannier width (less than handlebars). My only slight concern is that two plates with spacers are needed to mount the top case and there appears to be a small gap. Hopefully will look ok when I get them.

I am picking up my new GSA 18 April and dealer claims that they have zero Top boxes available as of yet with a whole list of customers waiting.

To me this is real BMW Bollocks. How can you launch a bike only to have a major accessory not available.
Not wanting to feed the 1300 depreciation fan club but this is a big no-no for me and a big let down.

Worse is they can’t give me a date even when the top boxes will be available…..
I need mine by mid June for my first trip abroad
Let’s hope….

If you have the electronic top box rack Shad do a plate to fit a Shad 59 box . Bur mot do as well . Mine has a none electronic plate and no one is manufacturing a top box plate for that . I am having to order an electronic rack at about £700 then the Shad plate . I share your pain

I have given up and ordered Bumot for my R1300 GSA as I have a tour in 3 weeks. I agree - a very poor situation.

I bought a Shad TR55 terra top box. Looks great imo. And big enough for 2 helmets.

Without wanting to look like a 1300 knocker (I happen to love my 1300GS) I have to say I find it incredible that BMW have screwed up the luggage situation on the GSA almost as badly as they did on the GS. In my case, they lost out as I went with Shad topbox and panniers, both expandable and both working well.

I have the plate coming from Bumot so I can use my old Defender Evo topbox (from the r1250 gsa) on my r1300gsa.
Worth noting that most of these 3rd party mounting plates still need you to have purchased the BMW luggage plate (£250ish) in addition to whatever brand mounting plate you need.

You are not wrong and that follows the complete cock up with the GS luggage, finally got my revised panniers 16 months after getting the bike You would think after a performance like that the GSA launch would be spot on

I paid for mine in December .I have had the panniers 6 weeks ago .its now almost the end of April and still no top box .I have made an official complaint to bmw UK and I am waiting on a call from this week.i don't blame my dealer at all.this is a issue with bmw themselves. To say I am not happy is an understatement.

And for BMW it's an issue with the company that makes the cases. I would imagine BMW is as disappointing as everyone else
