Looking at the 2 bikes the R1250 looks like a real horse while the R1300 looks like Shetland pony...Dont know how the ramp works I mean seat/tank while you can brace yourself against the tank braking hard on the old one moving on the seat holding yourself with the inner thigh...A ride will give the answer ! Next year in the colonies...oh well something to look forward to !

With all due respect, can you stop commenting on a subject that you only have a data view of not a physical. It’s not that I don’t like what you say , it’s more the drip drip drip of the same , consistent unsupported comments that makes my starched collar rub and it’s just not cricket.
A Shetland pony is an animal perfect for the intended application, they are a beautiful animal and full of humour and character.
So from your description, I am guessing you are liking the 1300?
I have to admit I have not seen it in the flesh so have sustain from making final judgement on looks but commented on the 2 sidepictures 1250 vs 1300 GS...But as they say beauty is only skin-deep so except for the missing taillight I really dont care about the looks good or bad but have to say back in its days I thought the 1100GS - 1150GS and then 1200 LC looked very different , very industrial and thus good while the new one looks nice almost japanese which might attract a certain clientele and turn others off...Like going with the japanese blinker switch while I thought the old left/right BMW design was better !
AS for riding the bike I have not done it either but have to say looking at numbers on paper I am underwhelmed as I suspect real weight savings are 5 kilos and 9 hp more in combination with taller gearing are mostly semantics and a smaller tank is a no go...After 11 years or 5 after the midcycle 1250 refresh there is probably people like me who expected more to instill a real want to upgrade and I hope others feel the same that BMW gives us a real reason to upgrade sooner than later...Thats all ! And yes Shetland Ponys are cute and smart animals but not good for riding...LOL I just made the comment because the bike looks like it has a big belly but short legs...LOL

The old one has a more aggressive stance with the rear ending in a good looking taillight...The new one looks like a hammock or banana if you look at the tank/seat...Probably better for riding off road as you can slide all the way forward to the steering head...Looks more like a dirtbike with a short suspension but like I said final judgement will be made in person ! The black one does not look bad on paper...
There has been much discussion about engine sound, well this chap has made the effort to capture both the 1250 and 1300 and quickly switch between them to compare for your delight.

Im now intrigued enough with the claimed improvements (power, gearbox, front wheel lifting in first 3 gears, perceived weight, shifter etc..) to arrange a test ride and get a trade up price.
A few things I am not sure about, anyone got a good understanding..:
The forged enduro wheels, at extra cost. They are lighter, this should improve cornering on the road also? On the basis that race bikes run lighter rims for quicker steering and weight reduction…thoughts?
Sport suspension. Is this going to be of benefit on the road also? Difficult to tell just what BMW mean in their blurb. Waste of money or an improvement for a road only bike? The extra height (20mm? is no issue to me, in fact iI would welcome the extra ground clearance, assuming it is the same as the 1250, as toe sliders touch down frequently)
Manually adjustable screen. Does it have fully up/down only, or can it be set at variable heights, as per the 1250gs (sans winder..) I cant see much need for an electrically controlled version, unless there are extra variables in the adjustment.
I can ask some questions of my dealer, but tbh my French is not that great for understanding or asking of the details. Likewise their English is lacking!
My riding is all solo, minimum luggage if on tour and at the quicker end of the spectrum.
So whatever will give the best cornering package really. No, that does not mean I need buy an ‘XYZ’ something else, as I prefer how a GS handles real roads without being ejected from the seat and top speed is irrelevant.

Seen the new 1300 3 times at dealers (sat on it and declined a test ride -twice ) and I've read all the reports and to be honest they are doing nothing for me in GS form , I do not use half the performance of the 1250 gsa (or my two previous r1200GSA lc's) even on the Continent and as the wife is talking about not touring anymore (unless her new knees when she eventually gets them make a huge difference ) I will possibly no longer need the gsa anymore.
I have used the 1150 and the KTM 1090 more in the last couple of years in the UK than the 1250 so I can see me getting rid of the 1250 rather than replacing it with a 1300.
Looking at testing the new Stelvio when it comes out as a possible replacement for both the 1250 and the KTM
