R850R HELP PLEASE

The left side indicators have stopped working on my r850r 1996 N reg.

Ive checked the ovious can't find any thing the hazards don't work either ? think the switch is ok as it cancels the right indicator ?

Could it be the relay?

Any help greatly appreciated .

Ive checked the fuse all ok,the hazards work on the right side ok but not the left?

Open the indicator front or back doesn;t matter Make your self up a bit of wire with a fuse at one end preferably something low amperage like 3 amp or 5 amp Connect one end to the battery positive or something positive You are just testing the circuit (Fuse nearest battery )

Do NOT touch ANY brown wire with the end of it ! It will (should) blow the fuse immediately and you will have to go find another one!

Touch the positive thingy you have made up to the Blue wire with the black or Red stripe, I can never remember which way round! its just a left or right side but you will get the picture

If front and back Indicator bulbs light up at the same time ? then its likely somewhere between the indicator unit and the first connection Although it Could still be a dodgy indicator unit

Better still if you get a Sealey PPX Its a "safe" way of feeding positive or grounding a negative on wires

Not Sure I was trying to think what else you can test but the easiest way is to borrow OR buy a used relay and plug it in

If you put live to the relay output, the indicators should go on, but not flash, if you put live to the indicator relay input the indicators should go on and flash, with it switched to either side,

That should tell you if the flasher relay works, and if it's a supply to the flasher unit. As the good Dr said get one of those sealy probes that you connect directly to the battery, it makes it much easier to find the fault.
