Race can and fueling

My 1100 came fitted with a Remus Grand Prix muffler - horrible noisey thing it was too.

Flogged it on evil bay with the warning "don't buy this if you live anywhere near me."

Couple of months later - it was up for sale again.

Not suprised

Standard can with y piece :thumb
Mines also got a bb performance fuel chip
No idea what that does apart from letting it over rev and moving power up the rev range a bit :nenau
Which I don't do!!! Why have a torquey twin then rev it ????

I'm running Y piece and standard can on my 54plate GSa and it sounds spot on, not too noisy or too quiet. My mate is running his on a Y with a Remus and its not much louder to be fair. I will probably change my can eventually purely on looks

When I got my 01 gs it had y and Remus. Too loud. I played with various options of standard, y plus standard and cat plus Remus. I've finally plumped for cat plus Remus and have a techlusion fitted to sort the fuelling.

Wasn't until I had the throttle bodies serviced by Vern that I can now get it to balance properly and run sweet.
Interestingly I found mine ran better with the cat back on giving some back pressure. There is no performance gain and to be honest I'd spend my money elsewhere. Had the bike not come with the Remus etc I'd not bother.

Nearly didn't place the order when I tested the 1150 in October '02 With earplugs in it sounded like a scooter. Dealer started a bike with Y piece and Remus and the deal was done! Cat and standard silencer came unused in boxes. That was March 03 and the cat has only been fitted once a year(for test) since we moved to Austria.

Sounds great even with the little pipe in the can, slightly noisey without though. I tend to leave the pipe in as requlations here require that the cat remains fitted. Nobody takes any notice as long as bikes are not very loud-local police certainly don't care but I don't want to draw attention by running without the pipe in.

The bike ran perfectly in the UK with this set up. In Austria I got a lot of popping and farting until I tried the Steptoe mod, I've had no problems since.

I did the Y piece and race can/straight pipe and it was so noisy i binned it which i was surprised at having come from race can sports bike land (Race Akrapovic on on a 600 sports bike) .............. went back to Y piece and standard exhaust, feels better and not too noisy :thumb2

Remus Y and a Remus Genesis can. I like it a nice noise. Tried the steptoe mod but it made the bike awful to ride jerky and popping everywhere. Left it with no plug in runs very nicely.
