Location
Vienne, France. The sunny bit.
For those that don't know its an additional storage box designed to fit inside of the pannier rail on the opposite side to the exhaust. Useful for carrying small bits - puncture kit/compressor/spare oil/etc. As I have no aluminium welding facility it will be riveted together and sealed with silicone.

They are available ready-made for the 1200GS for around £150 but I've not seen one for the 1150GS.

18€;s worth of aluminium.

Edging angle cut and notched with one folded.

One side panel cut and loose-fitted.

One side drilled and fixed with 'Clecko's' (they allow for dismantling to remove swarf after drilling).

Riveted, well nearly as I have run out of rivets :blast

Side cut to shape and folded (that is not easy to get four corners right).

I've left an overlap for final adjustment into the corners.

Trial fit and looking good

The door has yet to be decided probably after I fit it to the bike as lots of things get in the way ;)

To be continued................................

Thanks Red 1.

Decided on a sliding door which I know will probably not be waterproof but it can be opened easily within the tight confines of the pannier rails.
Closed.

Decided to use M5 bolts to lock it as it won't be opened every day. (hopefully)
These are captive nuts made by drilling aluminium slightly undersize then pressing the nuts in.

Inside view shows them riveted and epoxied into place.

Door slide finished (note inevitable scratches but I plan to cover inside of door with plastic sheet which should reduce scratching to a minimum.
