I have fitted the BMW rain panels to my LC (not sure what their official name/description is) as I was somewhat miffed at the amount of road crap that comes up off the backwheel and on to the back of your legs and even onto the seat. They are the plastic panels that act as infill panels between the chassis tubing on the left & right of the bike.

Not cheap (BMW stuff never is!), but do they work? The amount of crap thrown up is reduced, but with no panniers fitted the bike and seat still get crap all over them. With panniers, the combination is much better at keeping you clean.

Is it worth buying and fitting them? On balance, no, I don't think so, as I do not particularly want to always ride with the panniers on.

What is needed is a good hugger/mudguard. And I will get one as soon as they become available.

I have seen the rubber sheet device that someone on this site is fabricating and selling, but it all looks a bit Heath-Robinson and I cannot bring myself to fitting one on the bike. I would rather put up with dirty legs etc until a better solution appears.

Power bronze do a hugger its on evilbay search r1200gs 13 and you will find it both in black and carbon look I myself are waiting for the puig hugger available wk31 and it looks very nice.

Regarding the splash guards £40 is cheap as chips because the TT ones are £190 ish, I've got the BMW splash guards and a home made wally flap attached to the undertray and everything is perfect now.

The rain panels are about £30.:rob Hardly expensive when you've spent over £13k on a new bike:rolleyes: And they definitely work.:D

Its me that is making the Crud Catcher for the back wheel, how do you fancy trying one for free? I will send you one to fit and try and if you dont like it send it back, if you like it you can pay for it, cheap as chips for £30 considering the price of the material. I have sold a few now and I'll think you will be suprised how well it works and looks. I'm no David Bailey.

PM if you are interested.

You may find the Powerbronze hugger is the Puig item. As is Wunderlich's.

Just get a Chinese 'Mudsling' copy from ebay, I think I paid about £30 for mine, does the job and it's much cheaper than the overpriced branded version.
