I thought this new V9 Bobber Guzzi (at least I think it's new) is quite nice, at least as far as the general purpose/hipster/custom/plodding about type bikes go. I guess it competes with the Ducati Scrambler and Triumph Bonnie and the like. A damn fine effort in my view. No intention of buying one but if I happened to have a lakeside property on Lake Como and I had to pop to the local town for a gelato and pick up some antipasto, I would happily jump on it and take the long way back over the mountain. I would also change my name to 'Antonio'. Happy Days.

Seriously though, I'd not heard of the bike before and have just been perusing the web site for it - I really think Guzzi have hit the 'retro/hipster/whatever' nail on the head, certainly one of the best stock lookers out there

Still think that the V50 has the makings of a really good mid-weight travel bike. Would probably only need a suspenson swap and maybe a modified rear frame.

Years ago a friend bought a Monza, raved about it saying he couldn't get anything to scrape the deck on corners. I took it out for spin and kindly decked both sides on a series of z-bends just outside Dorchester, exhausts if I remember correctly. A nice wee bike. Then a couple of years ago I tested a V50. It kept stalling as I slowed for junctions etc. the left exhaust started to fall off at the cylinder head and the rear suspension was so harsh that I was suffering lower back pain after about 90 minutes. All could have been fixed but for a brand new demonstrator it wasn't impressive. Decided that I wasn't ready to downsize and bought the S10.
Many Years ago I had a slightly modified V50 that I took on a few weeks tour of France. Uncomfortable wasn't the word. The seats are like a block of wood. Typically though I bodged a borrowed rack on it, loaded it up and we got on with it. The engine was fine though and it was nice and light. The brakes were terrible two up with all the gear on.

The discs show the poor bike is crying out for someone to use it. Surprised to see a steering damper on a Le Mans too, I thought hat they were so stable that turning them was an issue not head shake.
They are very stable (too long). I never understood why they fitted the steering damper even though it was a crappy cheap thing. I took mine off and didn't notice any difference.

i had a le mans go lock to lock in mid air once, but they are generally very stable. the dampers are often fecked and do nothing anyway.
on a more Random Guzzi Shit note, this fetching sticker fell through the letter box the other day...
