About 3-4 years ago there was an MGS01 for sale in the midlands for somewhere around £16k which at the time seemed like OK value albeit to a lot of money. Look how many new bikes are now north of 15k and many are close to £20k
....
This is a bit special but £13k

I haven’t a clue Khulu, sorry, I’m not up on that sorta shit at all but if engine numbers match the frame numbers then it’s fairly safe to assume it’s a V1000 lump?
Carb size maybe? Did they run bigger carbs?
Andres

A Le Mans will have 36mm pumper Dellortos on rubber manifold adaptors and a V1000 will have had IIRC 30mm square slide carbs on solid ally manifolds that are angled in more. Very different visually.
Le Mans carbs do not go on V1000 heads without significant mods to the heads. Also Le Mans heads match the high comp domed shape of the Le Mans pistons. Though not interchangeable, it's not impossible to convert them. Wessons in Brighton used to do it.
I think you might need to take the heads off and measure the bore to get a definitive answer to the 850/950 question.

The only brochure that gives any detail re the carbs is the V1000G5:
