rattle on start up

Hi Guy's
My 1150R rattles for a few seconds on start up on the right hand ( from the seat of the bike )side of the engine. is this pending doom or can this be easly fixed. Also does the BMW oil filter have a non return valve in side it to stop the oil from draining off back to the sump when it is switched off???it is a 2002 with 21k miles

more like the timing chain tensioner taking a bit longer to fill with oil...as to pending doom....ask Steptoe.....
