RDC Problem

Bit of an issue with the bike today - took it to get some new tyres from an independant, warned the fitter that it had tyre pressure sensors (as per the manual), however he broke the sensor in the rear wheel - he didnt expect them to be the size they are.
He was very apologetic and ordered a new sensor to be fitted FOC. He changed the front tyre ok and put the old rear back on 'til I get they new sensor delivered (no point putting the new tyre on then taking it off in a couple of days)

Now to the questions - does the new sensor have to be 'connected' to my ECU? Can I do this myself, or is it a dealer job?

On the way home, the front sensor worked ok for a while, then stopped transmitting so now have a bloody annoying orange triangle on the dash. Any suggestions on the problem and a fix for it??

New sensors have to be coded at a dealers.

I quite often get one of my sensors not communicating, I think you only get the yellow triangle when both sensors are out.

Both sensors are not working, any idea why the front has packed in?? Is it a tyre off jobbie??

My front TPM has gone intermittent following a tyre change except it was working fully immediately afterwards for several hundred miles. My theory is the moisture in the tyre is getting to the gyro which is supposed to switch the things on at a certain speed (to save the battery I guess). Bikes booked into Bahnstormers next week to have it replaced at the same time as a service. When it goes off I don't get any warning triangle so I'm pretty sure its just the TPM timing out as the gyro is stuck.

At least I can claim the set up of the rear sensor off the tyre fitter. I wonder if the technology is designed to force us into getting more stuff done at the dealers.
At least if the sensors didnt work properly after a tyre change at the dealer you can insist they fix it for nowt.

This is a learning curve for all. I have decided there is no point in saving a few dollars by using a none certified BMW tyre dealer. These tyre shops can also bend your wheels

Well blow me down with a feather - my front is working perfectly again. They do seem a touch temperamental. Will be putting another 750 miles on the bike before next service so I guess if they are still OK then I won't get them changed under warranty.

Hopefully it was just having a hissy fit cos it couldnt find the rear sensor so spat the dummy out.

The sensor should get delivered today, so hopefully the story will pan out ok.

Bikes being collected tuesday and I'm off to France for the weekend - will get the mileage up to the 6k mark no problem.

Went to get the new tyre and sensor fitted today, but the valve cap thread on the supplied sensor was 'missing'......
