I built a new natural hide in a trailing willow, and cut a shooting lane to the tree earmarked for the squirrel feed station. From this:

To this, just big enough to site a seat and room for dog and rucksack.

The view from my hide, the shooting lane needed clearing:

Just using secateurs and a folding pruning saw I soon cleared the brambles and a few pole sized trees to give me a proper clear lane, looking back to my hide from about half way:

Then I cut one of the felled trees to form the run up tree for when I put the feeder box in place.

That was enough for one day, so I went off to another wood and the squirrels were calling, I managed to draw 5 in with the Primos Squirrel Buster call, retrieved 3 with no dog. 1 fell in the pond and sank immediately, the other down a steep bank into deep brambles - the fox can have it! Theoben Rapid in .22 with a BSA barrel in those days,1994, it still works.
