2nd set of rear brake pads fitted @11,700 miles.Im not heavy on the brakes or a particularly fast rider but I do carry a pillion 95% of the time so I do use the rear brake at low speeds to keep things smooth,I dont use the ACC too often either.

I can't remember if my 1250 had linked brakes but it didn't have ACC and the way I ride hasn't changed but in 21,000 miles the pads never needed changing

The 1250s have linked brakes, the front brake lever operates both the front and rear brakes while the rear brake pedal only operates the rear brake. Seems to me like you have rather excessive pad wear for some reason?

Sounds excessive? Is the caliper binding?
Go for a few miles ride (avoid braking if you can) then check if the rear disc is hot?

There is a chap who lives in Wolverhampton.
His R1300GS was eating rear pads at an alarming rate.

What was his name? Stick.

Do you ride in road mode, It seems to use a lot of rear brake when you pull on the front, in dynamic mode the brakes a far more “normal”
Always ride Dynamic .
I have just been looking back, 1st set were replaced at 4,900 miles foc due to me having a moan, latest set at 11,700 and maybe could have lasted another 1000 to 1500 miles so probably 8,000 on the 2nd set.We are going to the Alps and Dolomites in a couple of weeks ,about 3,000 miles so thought it best to change them.My point being the mileage my 1250 did on the original pads.
This motorcycle business is becoming very expensive!

Just had my rear pads replaced at 9,500 miles. Still had some life left but off on a trip to the alps so decided to invest my £66 a bit early. I generally ride in ROAD mode.

My 12000 Mile r1300gsa needed new rear pads. I changed them last week .I don't know if this ride in road or dynamic mode makes any difference as I switch from one to the other all the time.and yet the front ones are like new.

me ,
if i'm selling it is either a shitter and well worn out , with faults , but i'm so honest you wouldn't believe it !
my shitter GS was sold as not running , dead engine for £500.
or it goes out the door , not needing to be touch for 6k miles , except maybe tyres.
my Black GS , went out fully serviced , i even did the fork seals for him 6 months later , for free.
my RT went out serviced , it is coming back for a service in August .

My 1300 GSA rear brake pads were 60% worn at 4k miles. I always used my bike in Road mode which seems to be the culprit. Not sure if it helps but I've been riding in Dynamic mode ever since. Will know in 2 months time when I go for 6k mile service.

Also any idea where to buy genuine BMW brake pads?

I bought my 1250GSA approved used from BMW with new pads fitted.

I replaced my rear pads with genuine BMW items just before my recent Alps trip as they were about 80% worn with around 7000 miles of riding on them.
Glad I did as I use a dab of rear to tighten my line exiting hairpins plus the linked brakes meant I would probably have been close to the metal by the time I got home, lets just say I enjoy a "Spirited ride".

Brake pads are cheaper than crashing.
