Over the last 25 years I've done more touring holidays. My bikes have steadily got heavier. I typically do 15-25,000 miles on my tourers before replacing them. The first time I had to replace rear pads was on my 1250GS. This was the first bike I've owned with linked brakes and with heavier metal luggage / engine bars, was the heaviest bike I'downed until the 1300GSA.
I think the extra rear wear is due to the ever increasing weight of bikes and linked brake systems. I can see how adaptive cruise could also add to brake use, therefore wear.
What do you do about it? If you want all the extras, and good brakes, just have to swallow it and keep up with the maintenance.
