Before setting off for the Dolomites I had the paralever bearings replaced as they were knocking & while doing those the fitter said we had better do the diff seal as there was a little oil in the gaitor.
Now all was well got to Italy via the timmeslsjoch & a few other passes on the way rode in the dolomites for a couple of days.
Now it was a biker only hotel with at least a dozen BM's of varios models why was mine the only ferker with oil again outside the gaiter and a bit of oil mist around the housing.
Anyway after loosing my apetite that night took a ride to the local dealers & he put my mind at rest saying it was a common problem he has tourists coming in all the time .He immediately asked if I had been riding any high passes & when answered yes he said it's a common problem if the g/box is filled a little too high as pressure builds up with the pressure at altitude or something like that & forces some out any way put my mind at rest & to be honest it leaked very little for the rest of the trip as we had more or less done with the passes so I guess if you intend riding at altitude leave your g/box oil level a little lower . This may be a load of b##locks but made me feel better
I suppose the whole trip 3.500 miles there would have been no more than a thimble full is that a lot
