Hi
my rear shock went (standard showa on a 1150GS) so i dropped it in to ABE in Greewich to get it rebuilt. Now, i cant get the thing to fit back on the bike...
Rear wheel off, i can slot the shock back up where it came from. However the "sealing" bolt at the top of the shock (that keeps the gas in) sits against the metal shock mounting that's part of the bikes frame. This means that the shock sits at an angle which keeps it a good couple of inches away from the swing arm mounting - and its metal on metal, so it not going to budge.
I'm wondering whether they've given me the wrong shock back by mistake (mixed two bmw showa units up) or whether the sealing bolt is larger that the standard one.
The shock has 2 335 725 Showa 30172 written on it. Can anyone tell whether this is the right item?
And the bolt at the top is a torx that stands out maybe 5mm proud of the shock. can anyone tell whether this is correct?
Its such as simple job that i'm finding it hard to believe (this time) that its just me being thick...
help appreciated
