I have the 1200 adventure, purchased as a demo with 2000 km, and having a lot of fun after stepping off Harleys and triumphs, what a great versatile machine

I have a question, as anyone else experienced rear end chatter[ like a metallic clatter] from either the swing arm or the rear shock area, I get this when accelerating uphill on corrugated dirt surfaces, my mate on on standard GS says his is the same, I am assuming its the result of breaking traction on a closely corrugated rough surface,

I've reviewed the lot of this forum and can't recall seeing this issue mentioned anywhere

Are they all like this???? or do I, we have a problem? Please give me some feedback, as I'm due for a 10,000 km service in a couple of days and if I do have a problem I'll have it rectified under warranty.

This is my first post, and I really enjoy the forum, thanks for any feedback

Hi Savagio and welcome to the site :thumb

Cant say I've noticed this. i would have thought though that any bike going at a lick over corrugated dirt surfaces will give a certain amount of 'chatter' from the rear end. :nenau

Hi to all the guys in the colonies (if that doesn't hack them off nothing will), hope your enjoying 2007,

I have experienced the noise described, it is the centre stand bouncing onto the rubber stop.

you can prove this theory by putting a cable tie on the stand and taking the bike for a test run up a suitably bumpy track.

Going to have another glass of wine now so TTFN!

Happy new year to all.

I've had this as well, put it down to bad road surfaces and the tyres. I was fretting initially thinkling all kinds of mechanical gremlins were at work in the shaft drive! Nice to know it seems I was wrong on both counts.

I'm on a '07 and have noticed this as well. I think (hope) its normal. I initially thought centerstand as well, but when 'flicking' the centerstand up manually it makes a more muted, rubber silenced sound. I'll try the zip tie next time and see if it really is the centerstand (or side stand) or not.

Hi, I can't speak for the 1200 but my 1150 does exactly the same thing. I Don't think there is a fault. Cheers.

heard it once on my 12gsa. ignored it, as i'd heard it mentioned here :)

G'day Savagio.

I get the same on the back dirt roads around NSW so wouldn't worry about it.

And what's this bagging out us colonial people?:nono At least WE can play cricket!!!!!!:D
