Hey all,
Quick question, my bike is leaning way off (R1150 GS 2002 model) I have checked the sidestand with 2 mechanics and nothing is bend or broken, the lad who had the bike previously mentioned that he had the suspension replaced for a GS ADV one, I checked the serial number of the front suspension and its the stock one used on the normal adv, I want to check the serial number of the rear (because the Lad was not completely honest with other parts of the bike, which I had to replace :nenau), I tried to look at the serial number but I can see that it's hidden and I can't get a quick look at it without needing to dissemble a few parts...
Would like to ask...before I begin breaking down the bike, is there maybe a hint for finding out the part number of the shock installed without much hassle?

what colour is the spring? grey or a blue/black colour

what is the height of the body the spring is sitting on from bottom, to bolt hole?

is it about 50mm, or 75mm?

and as a point, most of the bikes lean quite badly anyway,

also is the preload wound tight?

Not sure about the Mud Island versions, but over here its easy to tell, the bottom mount on the ADV is much nicer ADV one is on the left, I think you can guess why I changed it

The Adventure has both longer side and main stands than the standard GS ,that said my standard 1150GS suffered from the same problem especially when loaded for touring with the height adjuster jacked up.
I fitted an s/hand Adventure sidestand which was a little bit better and in the end also added an aluminium plate approx 10 mm thick to the sidestand foot which improved things .

Thank you all for the answers! Welshman thanks for posting the picture!!! That helps a lot, I will get downstairs and check it in a while!
@ELIMINATOR Thanks for the link! I know the mod (I will do that this week), I wanted mostly to see what kind of shock my bike has installed just out of curiosity! :)
