rear wheel outta true

I'd be surprised if the hub (by which I mean the crownwheel/axle) was to blame.[/QUOTE]

Don't hold your breath!!

rear drive probs

This sounds like what happend to me i found that i had 4-5mm of movement on the back wheel in the 12 and 6 oclock positions, the problem was traced to the alloy wheel carrier been worn and moveing on the splines the only thing that holds the wheel in place is the interferance fit ie you have to warm up the alloy carrier to fit it to the splined shaft so when it cools it grips the shaft the circlip only stops it moveing along the shaft.i bought a new wheel carrier and fitted it as required ie heated up and fitted it when it cooled this appeared to have fixed it the hub was tight with no movement, this was ok for about 400 hundred miles when i found the same problem again on strip down and inspection the wheel carrier was again sloppy, the concluesion is that the shaft splines must wear. .BMW ANSWER IS YOU NEED A FULL NEW DRIVE ASSEMBLY £900 !!!!!!!!!!!!.my answer machine new parts to lock the wheel into place i have just done this mod to my bike and everthing is fine i used an old wheel carrier to test it and there is no play now that the wheel carrier is mechanicaly retained to the drive hub this mod has not pre loaded any of the bearings or interfered with any of the seal assemblys the design was worked out on a stripped FD unit
