Ouch!

I'd give the super glue a miss. I'm not sure it will do any damage, but better safe than sorry.

I had a lid painted a while ago and those guys used some thin double sided foam cut to shape.

I would suggest speaking to Phoenix Distribution as they are the importer.
Had a similar problem with my wifes RX7RRRRR and they fixed it free of charge. Top service from a really nice set of people. Well worth looking them up
