Can anyone recommend the best M/C recovery / breakdown company? AA, RAC etc.
Bike has been out of warranty for a few months. Wasn't going to give Motorrad £350.00 for their option. Based on past experience. I bought a warranty from Warranty Direct for the negotiated sum of £190.00. No recovery with it.

Thanks in advance.

If you've AA cover on a car, it automatically covers bikes as well, no extra charge.

If you want euro cover, try your bike insurer. Express is (from memory) £50 for the first bike and £20 each additional bike for the year. I think there may be bike age restrictions, though.

Carole Nash also has breakdown and recovery with the policy. I've used twice in 12 years, no problems. (Except the bike, clearly).

I am insured with Carole Nash so have UK and European breakdown and recovery for the bike. Been insured with them many a time but never used their breakdown service.

I also have Full AA Breakdown and Recovery personal (single) cover so that covers me in my car and on the bike as driver or passenger in any other vehicle. You can also get AA Vehicle specific cover which covers any driver of that named vehicle. I have only used the AA once in the last ten years but with the wee one I don't want to risk getting stranded somewhere. Always pays to challenge their renewal quote as I always end up getting it cheaper with them with just one phone call.

On my AA cover I have added Parts and Labour cover for my Bike at a cost of £75 per year. Already had the money back when my GS battery went and I got it replaced through the AA. I wanted a new battery before my Europe trip so reckoned if I stopped using my Actimate charger that the battery would be likely to fail after a week or so of the freezing weather. Sure enough it did so called out the AA and immediately started again when the AA man jump started the bike. But he put down on his form that the battery needed checking and replacing if dodgy.

You can claim up to five times a year on AA Parts and Labour at up to £500 a time (less £25 excess). Only problem is that the AA Parts and Labour can only be claimed if the fault causes a breakdown. Obviously a duff battery would be covered but a corroded bike item claim wouldn't be.

Hi, I use Auto Aid as mentioned on moneysavingexpert.com £35 yearly and does any private vehicle, relay plus, hire car etc, etc. Only two catches, UK only and you have to pay up front and claim back. Have used 5 or 6 times in the ten years I have had membership, always get cheque by return. As you have to pay up front, you can ring your preferred breakdown company (pay by card), if they are busy you can ring round so at least you have control. Last one was, 807 broke down one street north of Oxford Street London, had the car recovered to Peugeot dealer in Southampton, hired another car for 3 days, bill was close to £700, cheque received within 7 days of original breakdown.
