removing handlebars on aan r1100gs

could someone tell me how to remove the bars on an r1100gs without taking everything off the them.from what i can tell the bars split at either end but i cant figure out how.

Despite appearances, the bars don't split at either end. You can leave the wiring for the heated grips threaded through (unplug under tank) but pretty much everything else needs to come off. It's a bit fiddly the first time but really only about fifteen minutes work.

What are you actually trying to do??

I was wanting to spray the bars black as there a bit worn over the years

Just mask them up and spray in situ. Few coats of Smootherite and jobs a good un.

Although it looks complicated, they are actually very easy to mask up.
