One for Steppers perhaps, after a few issues with my '03 1150GSA not idling cleanly and being a bit hesitant off a closed throttle I check the TPS voltage and it was impossible to get a steady voltage reading. I have therefore got a new one to replace it, however I have noticed the slot on the back of the new TPS is at 90° difference to the lug to which it hooks onto on the throttle body.

So my question is which one do I turn to get them aligned and does it matter in which direction?

The slot will need to turn anti clockwise as you look at it when you open the throttle.

Sorted I think

Having looked closer at the TPS the slot only turns in one direction and then only through 90° so even a feckwit like me should be okay.

Sounds more like a stick coil breaking down.
Do a search;Steptoe has written a guide on how to check them.
Balance the TBs before swapping the TPS.
