Just fitted a set to my 1100. Cost £120ish for a genuine BM kit from motoworks.
In total It's taken me an hour and a half and that included the 90 seconds spent trying to make sense of the destrutions
Although my bike has never had them fitted, the bars had the holes in near the yoke/clamps. As a result i didn't even need to romove the bars or any of the controls.
The multiplugs for the grip switch and power feeds are all there where they should be so it was simple a case of whipping off the seats and tank, disconect the earth, then screen and headlamp bezel off to get access to the back of the dash to pop the switch in.
I took the bar end weights off, cut off L/H grip, fed HG lead down bar and retrieved from hole, attached grip using the two supplied screws.
For the Throttle grip all i had to do was remove the L shaped cover to get at the throttle cable nipple, remove cable and nipple from grip, remove to grip securing screws and remove grip (easier than L/H side as it's on a sleeve
), replace with HG and feed wires through as before. Make sure there is enough cable to allow full throttle movement and
Run wires to the multiplug under the tank (clear plug with 2 black and 2 brown wires to it) along the existing loom and connect using supplied plug.
Connect up the switch at the back of the dash, re-connect earth, ignition on and test (not for long due to current draw but they warm up in 30 seconds or so
).
Screw everything back on, make a cuppa and smile smuggly at the thought of how toasty my hands are now going to be with heated grips and muffs
I reckon I could do it on another bike like mine now in an hour easy, the original instructions made it seem more difficult than it was (really straight forward)
Sorry there's no pics, I've not got a camera at the mo
