I was looking for some thing on the gps.to do a return route,ie, lets say you have done a route on your pc.you then send this into your gps...ok...so it's the day of your ride, the one that you have made up on the pc,now you get to the destination, and it was a cracker of a route and you want to go back the same way, is there an icon on /in the unit that will tell it to follow route by return too?????I know you got the icon route home, but that will not send you the way that you have just riden...if there is a mode that dose this dam if I can see it, or am I just'a p#ss'in in the wind????and want an extra easy life...lol...lol

The option is in Mapsource on your PC - Save your route & the return route, then upload them both.

I don't think either the SPIII or the 2610 have the facility to do this in the unit.

ok m8, will try this next time I do route on the pc.....
the unit I have is the 2610.....but would'nt it be a bloody good idear if the gps done a return route by the same as you got there by.....

The Garmin III+ had the facility to reverse a route and it's odd that it is not available on the later more advanced models.

Depends whether you went down any one-way streets.

If you need to reverse a route, but haven't got access to the computer, you can just follow the "breadcrumb" trail from the track log. I know it isn't ideal, and this would not give you directions etc, but I have done this before now. I agree it would be brilliant to have the ability to save a recorded track as a route, and the ability to reverse a route, but until then this method is better than nothing. ;)

watchout for motorways on a reverse route too as it can generate a load of spurious crossings to the outward carridgeway in order to get to a waypoint ie: a 200 mile motorway outward leg becomes 400 mile return leg!!!!

YEs but how do you get to see the breadcrumb trail?

i spent ages looking for an "invert route" option on my 2610 in france last week, with no luck.

interesting to read about the one way/dual carriageway problems, i never thought of that. why can't it just recalculate using the existing waypoints though?

Quest has reverse route option

I know the Garmin Quest has the option to "reverse route" I assume this would do exactly what you are asking.

(not withstanding obvious issues as stated, such as one way roads etc)
