Sorry if this has been asked guys. I'm due to depart for spain 4 weeks Friday. I was hoping to use my revolut card for fuel and accommodation. Just wanted to know if any one had used there's over there. With or without hassel. 🤔 :thumb

Revolut should work fine….. unless it doesn’t. Fuel stations can sometimes levy a debit of larger than the actual spend, which might take 48 hours to clear. This, depending on the balance on the card, might screw things up.

Always have a reserve, if nothing else to get you out of the poo if you lose it.

Most free to use credit cards, suitable for overseas travel, can be ordered online, approved and delivered to your door in a very few days. For example, my spare Halifax Clarity credit card was turned around within a few days of me ordering it. Even if you never use it, it is more than useful to have a reliable spare card, in case of an emergency. Just don’t keep it in the same wallet as your main card, in case you lose the wallet and both cards together.

I've just come back from 2 weeks trip around Spain on My GS 700
and used Revolut all the time, exclusively.
Worked all the time except once so have a backup for the odd blip

Used our Revolut card in Spain many times, I can’t remember ever having a problem with it.

Wise words are careful with Revolut.

Excellent folks thanks so much. I'll have it topped up so and ready. I'll also have a back up and cash . Just wanted to tap for tolls and hotels ect just to make life easy. Thanks for the help

Currently travelling in north west Spain and in a lot of cafes, cash is King! No cards accepted. So be prepared.

My advice is freeze the card when not using it.

Thanks for the reminder, now done.

I had some money taken out of my Revolut account whilst traveling and took an age to get it back.

As force4fun says, cash is king in Spain.
Especially in smaller outlets and cafes, however the nationals like petrol stations will defo take your card.
I did find also, that pre-loaded cash cards can be a problem when the machine is automated (I'm talking toll booths or unmanned/out of hours petrol stations) I have a Fair Fx card that I pre load before going on holiday and that only works when I use it in a place where the operator enters it into a reader like in a supermarket, even then it has been rarely but sometimes rejected.
Fair Fx said it was something to do with the automated machines trying to get authorisation too quickly, I don't know and never got to the bottom of it, so I always carry a Halifax credit card plus one other for redundancy, and as Wapping correctly mentioned, not in the same wallet!

It's a debit card. It works. Stop.
Always have more than one mean of payment (eg: multiple cards) and ideally a charge card would be easier. Sorted.
