Just wondered if anybody can tell me if this problem can be reset, or if my RID is fecked:tears?

"03" 1150 27k miles

Out on a ride today, after a couple of hours my gear indicator started to show the wrong gear.

neutral = 0
first = 1
second = 0
third = 1
fourth = 0
fifth = 1
six = 6

Is the RID past it's sell by date :( or can it be fixed?.

Nearly forgot.... Happy new year :thumb2

My first check would be the gear sensor tucked under the back of the gearbox, not the RID itself. I had problems with my sensor through water ingress (over-zealous jet-spraying :o), same symptoms as yours. You might find it dries out in time anyway. If not, DON'T bother taking it apart, just replace the whole thing.

Wow.. thanks for the quick reponse, I did jet wash it off (used on low pressure) 2 days ago, so it makes perfect sense.

Many thanks :thumb

Maybe its the new binary gearbox that BMW have been secretly working on :D

Hi Fleetwood

I haven't looked at the bike since but will later this week.

Thanks for the post. :thumb2

Must have been designed in conjunction with Microsoft. Only microsoft could fit a 6 in binary sequence. :eek

There are only 10 types of people in the world. Those that understand binary, and those that don't.

;)
