risers and handguards

1250 GSA Rallye TE, brand new. Noticed that when the bars are turned the bottom of the handguards strike the top of the tank at the sides.
I have the Rallye high seat fitted and I sit far back (6 foot five) so I feel I need my bars up and back. The Wunderlich up and back 40mm risers would do the trick I reckon and should solve the handguard issue.
Those that have fitted these risers did you have sufficient cable play on full lock ?

They work a treat and have loads of cable play. Like you i had 2” raised seat and the risers make sitting more comfortable.

Put on the Rox 50mm adj risers, you can set different amounts of up and back to suit, between that adjustability and a bit of bar rotation you are able to try different arrangements to get your Goldilocks set-up.
Expensive? Yes. Worth it? Definitely.

They cost £20 more than the fixed 40mm up and back Wunderlich ones which cost £95

No need to modify anything. The GS is the best bike ever. If it doesn't suit you then you are the problem.

Rox risers on my GSA. Good but at 50mm might be a tad to high for everyone. If you go down this route you will need a torx key with a 90° bend to tighten the clamp. Socket set is not going to fit.

This should not happen: either the hand guards are set too low or the angle of the bars themselves is wrong. The bars have two guide lines etched into the leading edge which indicates correct alignment with the clamps.

My bars are set with the 10 degree line at the clamp joint. If I was to move towards zero degrees the bars would come back towards rider and the handgaurd foul would be worse. So it must be the handguard position thats wrong

Or you have the bars angled too far toward you with the riser unit.

It could happen with the hexhead if i recall.

I dont have the risers fitted yet, they are in the post. I will have to get the bars at the same attitude when the risers are fitted but hte 0 and 10 degree lines wont be much help due to the different clamp angle. See pic.

The brake and clutch levers should sit pretty much at the bottom edge of the hand guards, which seems counterintuitive: one would expect them to sit more in the middle of the guards. Having them in the middle of the guards puts the guard lower edges too low and as you’ve found fouls the tank.

Yeh - the OE guards fit to the front of the mirror mounts with a bolt so it all moves relative to each other.
I fitted Barkbusters to mine as the OE aren't particularly strong.

If you slacken the large torx bolt at the end of the handlebar the guard can be rotated upwards slightly, then retighten the bolt. After that, I don’t know what to suggest other than the unlikely suggestion that your tank is not seated correctly. I found no such contact problem with my GSA.

The bar risers should lift the handguards and solve the problem
