ive just gone to put the windshield on the road king, and (im leaving of the chrome side flares)allthough there is only 4 holes in the nacelle, and the windshield is farily obvious.
there is a spring type clip that is on the windshieldon the top fixing holes ,couldnt work out if it was a fixing (it didnt seem to fix any where) or if a cable routed through the large hole in the clip .
in the end i pushed the spring thing down so the spring arm went under the screw ,and tightend evey thing up ,
it seems fine but im not sure if its right .
its not in the manual ,where to fix.

any ideas ,i meant to take a photo but didnt have the camera

i thought that but it didnt seem to fit ,as the round end of the spring hold the shield about 1 inch away from the top fixing ,unless you push it so the spring bends down ,then you push the screen into the top fixing ?

No it doesn't do much just supposed to stop the screen pulling forward out of the top rubber grommet but if it isn't adjusted properly it won't do that. I'm assuming it's the same as on my 96 model?

Where are the pics of your bitchin new sled? (sorry – I meant 'bike', I don't know what just happened).

ill stick some on today , the wheels are a bit tatty ,and will need powder coating at some stage , the paintwork ,non standard is ok ,not up to the spec i really want ,

but ill think about that later .
other than that ,it runs lovely only done 28000,miles and its got fish tails ...

as they say ride it dont hide it ( but allso polish it )

Pretty useless bit of wire really! It does hook over the upper screen fixing if you tension the spring by pushing it down when the screens off the bike, cannot see how would stop it falling off though. It can also help seat the screen on the upper bushing by using it to pull screen ( putting your index finger through loop) back onto the mount rather than pushing the screen.

There is an aftermarket part that replaces the wire with a security latch to lock the screen onto the bike. Quickly detachable means quickly nickable!

there does seem to be ,different views ,and ways on fitting, really if your doing 75 mph ,and the screen comes off, that bit of wire is not going to stop it.
its either going to hit your square in the face ,or go under the wheels .
EITHER WAY YOUR GOING TO DIE!!!!!!!.

On mine the fixings are pretty tight to get on and at 75mph the wind pressure is just going to push the screen further in to the fixings. The only way it is likely to come off is if you are travelling 75mph backwards. I would say, if that is the case then the thought of your screen detaching is going to be a long way from the forefront of your mind. I am speaking personally obviously :D

if you get a chance dave, could you take apicture ,ill post apic tommorow ,of how ive done mine

Here ya go:thumb2

What year is your bike BTW?

The screen is quite safe going forwards cos of the wind pressure but as Melch said if you do 75 in reverse you're in trouble

On a trip to Italy once we put the bikes on the Motorail to Nice to save a couple of days and the windscreen disconnected with the buffeting from the rear (ooh err missus). It just came out of the top fixing and angled enough to spill the wind.

The bloke parked in front wasn't so lucky, he lost the side screens from his brand new Morgan......
