So no fix for the amplified noise coming up from the fork / tank area? I just tested a 22 gsa 1250 and the noise was awful! My dealer looked at me like I am nuts but the mechanic said it’s just the bike they ( all gsa’s) do it and tires only help a little…some people are bothered by it most ignore it. My KTM 1290 s has a perforated plastic piece around the forks and the open area where the air comes up, no noise, surely someone has built one for the gs/gsa? Thank you

I haven’t tried one as the noise on my 22 GS. Is ok but was recommended if I find it annoying.

Came to the GS from a Crosstourer ( well 2 actually) they appear to suffer from a similar issue, noise/ wind coming up through the area around the forks. Someone came up with a shield that reduced both. Prior to the Honda I rode an FJR and that had a small baffle plate on the forks, wonder if that was the reason for it?

I bought a Neotec 2 a while ago as I fancied trying the flip up idea and comms with the inbuilt Senna system. Rode to Scotland and seriously considered throwing it in a skip and getting a replacement to get me home around Stirling area. Sold it straight away - for me it was horrendous for noise, poor vision through all the substrates (I wear specs to ride in) and it felt flimsy.
My Arai X4 is good (I use RX7's on track and the SFV4S), but not as quiet as I'd like so I'm having a Schubert at the bike show and fingers crossed it makes miles on the GS more bearable.

In my experience, the type of front tyre changes a lot of the ammount of the noise.
I wonder if one these may reduce it, also available through AliExpress for less than half the price.

On a previous GS I had an Ilmberger carbon fibre rear hugger and it amplified the rear tyre noise to the point that I took it off and sold it.

Try a Shoei GTAir very similar fit to an Arai but quieter, I have a Schuberth C4 Pro, no quieter than the Shoei and not as comfy either, due to my wingnut ears.
They are a lovely helmet & the Arai visors are superb. I wear specs now to ride on the road and prefer the clear or tinted visor options rather than the integral sun visor which I now realise the Schubert has so I've canned that idea.
I have the Akra can and have literally this afternoon put the baffles back in and fitted a larger Givi screen as I want to make the bike as comfortable as possible over a longer distance. Without baffles it droned like mad and the previous screen was rubbish with the additional flip bit.
If you keep out of the air blast and don't have a silly noisy pipe like I did it'll be as good as anything else.
I do wear custom fit ear plugs most of the time too and i don't think mine are that good, so perhaps a new set at the show.
The X4 with the peak can catch the wind liek any peak helmet, but I reckon it's the best adventure lid just like I prefer their road helmets too.
I think the noise coming up the “steering tunnel” is bloody awful for an very expensive touring bike.

I’m tempted to try Nippy Normans plastic thing but 72 quid seems rather pricy, without somebody saying “yes, it definitely works”.
Shoei Air2 lid, and it’s better with a balaclava or earplugs of course. I wonder if the noise comes into the helmet from below - and if a flip front lid might be a good solution as they can be a tighter fit round your neck.

I’ve got a Shoei Air, Shoei Neotec, Tour X4, but surprisingly my Shoei Hornet is the quietest.

If you have a Shoei Neotec and have the Chin cover fitted, try removing it, for me it made everything much quieter for me. On a standard GS the old Ankee 3s were very noisy swapped to Road 5s and much quieter. I now have a newer bike currently on Ankee Adventures and they do not appear to be noisy. I found the best solution is to wear Skull Candy bluetooth earbuds (cost approx £25) and listen to music from iPhone or SatNav. The changing in sound of music , even if not very loud, breaks the monotony of road and engine noise if on a long drag.

The Dash trim makes no difference - i have one and regard it as a trim.
Change the tyres transforms the noise. Mine improved with Conti TA3 and even better with Road 5s.

Funny really, buying a bike with off road capabilities and complaining about road noise. Would you do the same with a Landrover?
Best solution is sell the GS and buy a road bike like the RS, same engine, road tyres, lower C of G etc, good for comfortable road touring.

It doesn't seem to matter what tyres i have on, or which helmet i'm wearing, I cant hear any road noise whatsoever.
Maybe i'm revving it too hard or opening the gas too far and drowning it out?

Went through this whole thing. Try taking the handguards off and see how that effects noise.

Have considered that too!
I have the dash trim which did help a little but most of the noise on mine comes up from behind the clocks so I stuffed a towel in the space between clocks and screen which stopped most of the noise , since then I have put a small bag in there ... much happier now , no ear plugs required.

Thanks guys, real world experience…. I’ll try the towel, if that works, I’ll make a chunk of foam to fit. When it’s time for new tyres, Road 5’s will be on the list.
Bob, my Landrover has road tyres. It is quick quiet and comfortable, and I expected no less from the GS.
