Cheers folks. The week I've just had and then ManU win the premiership just to round it off. Perfect :beerjug:

Here's one for Fanum. 4 x generations of Kimmels. There's 85 years between my old man and Ava who'll be one next month.

We spent the day yesterday walking about in 27 degree sunshine. Took my dad to visit his sister who'd made an old traditional meal of Dumpfnudeln with a wine sauce. She used 2 litres of Riesling for the sauce! And you felt it :)

It's amazing how much better my dad looks now than he did when we first arrived. A couple days in the sunshine has given him back his healthy colour. He definitely looks good for 86, even if I say so myself.

I'm so glad that Lynsey made the effort to come out and join us for a few days. Ava is the only one of her 4 kids that my Dad hadn't met. She's been like a wee tonic for him. It's been magic to see them together.

We're back him tomorrow but this has been a truly brilliant visit back to Jockgrim. My old man is already asking when we're coming back. I think he's enjoyed it too.

Wonderful :clap:clap

Those last few pictures brighten an already sunny day down this way :beerjug:

Just spoken to my dad and sister. He had unexpected visitors today. George (Grizzly) and Joyce who were heading north towards the Mosel after their summer hols on the bike.

My dad was really chuffed to see them again. George and my Dad are both ex Michelin fitters in Dundee and no doubt poor George would get a million questions about guys they both worked with.

That's fair cheered me up. Lovely wee touch by George and Joyce :beerjug:

Thank you, all of you

Guys and ladies
ive just read this thread through from start to finish.
its enough to make a grown man have a wee tear in the e'en.
I've never met any of you i reckon, but with the spirit and humanity each and every one of you have shown it reassures me that from our wee place of heaven and with the guid freends we have all over the world, difficult times can be faced with warm thoughts and support from many.
i've lost both my folks and like one of your good people said, "oh to have 10 more minutes please Big Yin." the things i would say. hey ho.

Ronnie/Ronno, may you and your obviously wonderful family treasure every day hence forth. recall the warm and precious times shared gone by with mum, and above all talk to your dad like you've never done afore. They're a long time gone good buddy.
warmest regards from a total stranger in person but one who wishes you everything that is good.

Fellow GSERs,
keep it going guys. you've just made me remember that there are actually some good people on this forum after all. (check out my post for my son's RRS on non GS bikes to see what i mean).
best, aye
Jim

Sad news from Germany this afternoon. My old man has fought his last battle and died peacefully in his sleep. I managed to speak to him on the phone at lunchtime today. I dont know if he could hear me but it would be nice to think that he could.

I will miss him greatly but he enjoyed a very full and eventful life. He also enjoyed the odd glass of wine and a dram of whisky.

He also managed nearly 8 months after being given a few hours to live by doctors :D

Prost Dad. I'll miss you :beerjug:

So sorry to hear this news Ronno. Your dad looked and sounded like a fine fellow and I'm sure he has cherished this last 'extra' year with his family as much as you have.

Thoughts are with you and I'll raise a glass to him when I wander up the pub in a minute for a tea time pint.
