Ronno

You really need to recalibrate that crystal ball of yours. You're weeks out in your prediction :thumb

He's getting home today :clap :clap :clap

His new home that is: a brand new care home right opposite the flats where he lived with my mum. He's really looking forward to it and there's nothing to stop him having a beer tonight

I honestly never saw this becoming reality when he was given hours to live 4 weeks ago. I hope he'll forgive me for having so little faith in him and his strength and stubborness :D

He's an amazing man for 86 :bow :bow :bow

More good news:beerjug:

Really pleased for you Ronno, hope it raises your spirits a wee bit - health to you:beerjug:

Cheers Johnny. I'm hoping that I can talk to him on the phone later today.

I might even have a dram tonight :thumb

Good news indeed and I hope he is very happy in his new home.
Nice when the old folk get to make decisions and are happy with the changes that must happen some times as we get old.

Best birthday present ever!!!

Thanks to the power of the internet and a bit of google street view to get the name of his new accomodation, I've just located my dad and spoken to him on the phone :D :D :D

I can't get rid of this big stupid feckin grin :D

He only moved in an hour before I phoned him in his room. It saved me having to wait until my sister phoned me tonight with his new phone number.

Once again, thanks for all the good wishes and prayers for my old man :beerjug:

He is. He told me that his room was "fuckin lovely" (he uses the odd swear word does my dad :D) and by that, I know that he must be delighted with it :thumb2

Only just catching up on news. Ronno, so sorry to find out about your Mum passing away. She outlasted mine.

However, glad to hear that your Dad improved and is back in an area near friends and family. He has always sounded an amazing person, you are so lucky. Wishing him the best of health :thumb

This seems a bit surreal given that my dad was given 12 hours to live at the beginning of January, but here we are having a pint of Paulaner bier today. The fact that it was 25 degrees just made it even more surreal. It was really lovely though. BHT posted something earlier in this thread about having a dram with my old man and I must admit that as much as the thought was nice, I genuinely dismissed the idea as even being remotely possible.

I should have had more faith in my dad.

As an even nicer add on, my daughter Lynsey phoned me tonight to ask if I could pick her up at Frankfurt airport tomorrow. She's bringing her 11 month old daughter Ava with her, completely out the blue. Although her three other kids have been to Germany before, this will be the first time we've all been there together. Four generations. Just wish my mum had been with us.

.... If his sense of humor is anything like yours, I can just see him now waking up in Spring saying "well that's another winter out of the way, pour me a"
