Route Napoleon

Has anyone got a mapsource route of the best way to do the Route Napoleon as i have searched many threads and sites but seem to get different versions and would like to do the best one
Thanks in advance. I have attached what i think is the right one but i may be wrong and also a suggested detour ............................ Abuse please

Go here http://www.tourenfahrer.de/index.php?id=2239 and download the 2nd from the top (gpx) file on the left hand side. Now this route isn't strictly the Napoleon but is exceedingly good and worth considering for the return ride (if there's going to be one of course).

Here's a link for downloading an RN file but it's in the Tom Tom ITN format and will need to be converted to Garmin GPX format. Someone else will need to advice on that I'm afraid or you can use Tyre here http://www.janboersma.nl/gett/index.php I would recommend the alternative Grenoble to Cannes (RN) but also taking in the D900.....it really is well worth it. http://kyte-clan.com/GPSRoutes.htm

The best way is to veer left a bit and use Route Des Grand Alpes instead

Nah - Route des Grandes Alpes is a fine road but bedevilled by hairpins: the Route Napoleon is great for riding.

Well route looks alright to me, at least thats the way we went in 2008 but we started just south of Annecy and finished at Castallane as we stayed at Moustiers St Marie. We are going the opposte way this year first week June.

Actually on Mapsource its marked as Route Napolean when you hover over it N85.

If time permits a little detour into Gorge du Verdon from Castellane off N85.

Yes Gorge Du Verdon.....thats why we are staying at Moustiers to do the Gorge on spare day, its well worth it.

Depends what you enjoy , I much preferred the Route Napoleon and we did both last year.
