hi guy's
metal mule say they would build a rack to fit an rt1200 which would enable rt owners to fit there alu style cases .all they need is back up from rt owners to generate enough intrest.spread the word to any rt owners that you know & send an email to metal mule to confirm this.
god didnt make everyone with over a 30'' inside leg. shorty's can have alu adventure cases too surely.

On a GS, I can understand someone wanting metal panniers, but on an RT???

Methinks you've maybe chosen the wrong bike squire

Whats wrong with the RT cases ?

Nothing. I've had them on a GT and now my RT and they fit well and are aerodynamic-ish. Not as big as the ali cases but don't look as fugly.

I would hate to think of having 2 bloody great ali cases sticking out in the wing! Because of the shape they would be much further out than the standard cases - and look pretty shit.

just looking through stuuf anyone out there got tuning tips i want more power ????????????????????????????????????????????/

guess thats a no then.....

BMW used to make something called City Lids ( the panniers are in line with the cylinder heads , hence filtering is easier) for the panniers used on the 1150RT . I tried to source something similar for the 1200RT , but according to the dealer they are provided for the Police only .
Now that is something I would be interested in .
I suppose if you remove the passenger seat and fit rack there , but it will look shit.

Whats wrong with the RT cases ?

For me they are a pain to use as they are an irregular shape inside and side opening, both of which make packing them much harder than it should be.

I have a set of the flimsy city lids for my daily commute and they work ok. But when touring abroad I find the larger BMW cases to be very annoying indeed. I have the BMW inner bags and even when these are not filled right up putting them into the panniers is not easy, shoes etc just do not fit the pannier’s inner shape without a lot of pushing and shoving!!

I would LOVE to have a set of (black power coated) Metal Mule cases, the regular shape and top loading is so much more practical than the OEM panniers.

What is the point of nice looking panniers that are hard to use?

Just my answer to the question!!

PS - When can I place an order?
