Rumors for 2019...!

EURO-5 as in even quieter and leaner running engines will come in 2020 for all new models and in 2021 for bikes currently in production...if the EU should survive until then.I'd say let's go back to EURO-3 which was good enogh for environment and good running engines that sounded like motorcycles...:thumb2
And I think we can look forward to a R 1300 GS as 1280 cc is closer to 1300 than 1250.But who knows as they call a 2 liter 4 cylinder turbo a 328...;)
One thing for sure both S1000RR and R 1XXX GS will get lighter, more powerful and better handling according to the BMW man in charge which is a good thing...:thumby:
CF for the masses as we see in the HP 4 Race...
On oct 3 we know more for sure !
Interesting/exiting times.
Wonder if the air-cooled R Nine T survives after 2020 and how the new and upcoming bike for the Harley crowed will look like ?

Wow, amazing !
Just when you’d think BMW would make it heavier, less powerful and handle like shit, they go and spring this surprise.

Exiting times indeed,whatever that is......

Testing not going well though....

The OP entitled this thread ‘Rumours for 2019’.
It reads more like a one man frothy, wet dream fantasy, completely untroubled by any hint of fact.
Exiting times for sure in norcal.

Totally freakin’ A W E S O M E , dude !

As if there aren't enough unsold low miles WC bikes on motorrad dealers forecourts already..........

No doubt the pcp and 'select finance' teams will be gearing up for the rush.

If you can get excited about a new boxer with more power or a new S1000RR maybe you are getting too old and it's time for a new hobby like knitting...:D
Fast bikes are too dangerous anyways...:rob

I expect that you fantasize about ultra light weight, sodium filled titanium needles, to allow you to be the fastest knitter (on paper).
I can’t get excited about your wild imaginings - BMW will produce what they produce, when they produce it. No amount of your wishful dreaming will make it so.
Flat four boxer WC anyone? We’re still waiting. Meanwhile I’ll just ride - what about you?

Forsee another chapter to the following story.

Chapter 1, release of the r1100gs ..... it becomes the greatest motorcyle ever ! The new age BMW zealots will defend it as such with their very souls.

Chapter 2 , its is 1999 and the new r1150gs hits the market , previous 1100 owners now decide that this is now the greatest motorcycle ever ! Even before the first ones hit the showroom floor they have put down their deposit and the 1100 are now downgraded to being old hat.

Chapter 3 , there is a bit of a blip when the twin spark comes onto the market but the death knell for the r1150gs comes in the form of the r1150gs adventure, deposits down and they shout from the rooftops that the r1150gs is dead long live its succesor and vastly superior replacement

Chapter 4. the new r1200gs appears and sorry but the old dinosaur r1150gsa has to go it is so old hat and passee,

Chapter 5, So the story goes on the r1200gs is replaced by the slightly more powerful models and the new GSA and then the TC model becomes the must have and on every occasion these 'enthusiasts' will have beaten down the dealers door as soon as they saw the MCN spy shots and deperate to throw down a deposit and get rid of their older model

Chapter 6, Thank God those horrid air cooled bikes have been consigned to history as they were so agricultural the new self destructing and water soluble R1200GS WC must be bought, but fickle fate will decide that they must be replaced with a new GSA TE or a Triple Black or a Rallye as soon as the anoouncement of their impending release is announced

In all this time the owners will flit like butterflies from the oilhead across to the hexhead forum then onto the Water Cooled section and vociferously slag off the luddite owners who retain their previous inferior models .

Chapter 7, The future , the MCN spyshots will stoke the flames of the fever for the new VVT models and once they hit the Show circuit they will be begging their local dealer to take deposits or their very low mileage Rallyes, Triple Blacks and run out model WC's so they can get the first VVT models. Once their new VVT bike leaves the showroom it will be the best BMW ever and we all know what they will think of the older inferior WC bikes.

At least they are a source for low mileage used bikes and every time they change bike a vast range of half price farkles will appear for the masses to purchase

@ Alan R ; EU-5 if the EU should survive will come and kill the R Nine T line in 2021...:( I love those bikes !
The VV-T boxer will come in autumn and hopefully the dealer was right saying it has 1280cc making 148hp/145nm torque...:thumby:
All new lighter boxers with CF replacing steel will come next generation in probably 4 years...100th anniversary of BMW Motorrad in 2023 would be my guess !
A 4 cylinder boxer would be too long and heavy.Who wants Goldwing from BMW ? But a big boxer for the cruiser market is coming soon. Not for me but still interesting to see what a 1.0 to 2.0 liter boxer will look like. What I dream about is a sporty boxer for the street like a GS with 17 inch wheels and 150 hp right from the factory or another S Boxer with 150 hp/220 kilos wet with bags and centerstand, good looking and exciting equally capable and fun for sporty roadriding and summmer trip as also caple for a trackday or two a year...:beerjug:
And I look forward to finally ride a loaner HP4Race in September for a 20 minute session on the track as also seeing the new 2019 S1000RR !
Sorry that I still get excited like a kid about some new bikes from my favorite brand...;)

@ Neil W ; you got it all wrong...;)
I would say the R1200 aircooled bikes especially it their latest form from 2010 on all still great and modern bikes !
The LC ones had really only one advantage. The wet clutch in front of the engine which meant no more costly clutch replacement in case of a leaky rear main seal. But otherwise why only 15 hp more which is really not that much of a difference for all that added stuff like radiator, waterpump, thermostat, fanmotor, hoses, coolant.Especially where the new transmission still doesn't shift as good as the old ones in gear 1-2-3 or 4-3-2.
Now with 148 hp it finally might be all worth it...:thumb

All the leaves are brown and the sky is grey
I've been for a walk on a winters day
I'd be safe and warm if I was in LA
California dreaming on such a winters day

Stepped into a church I passed along the way
well, I got down on my knees and I pretended to pray(for a magic BMW motorcycle)
you know the preacher likes the cold
he knows I'm gonna stay
California dreaming on such a winters day.

Dream on, you never know...

Alan,it's only a dream that has turned into a real nightmare.Go west young man has been replaced by go south old man.In Mexico you can still enjoy freedom.Good food, weather, beer, scenery, etc. too.And best of all it is still affordable for the working man...:thumby:Viva la Mexico oder die Boxerlust auf der Baja erleben...:thumb
Hopefully next year on a new 148 hp GS on Mexican backroads racing the locals who are mostly on GS,S1000RR & XR...:D Mexicans know what's good and what works and have the money because americans have to kill the pain having to live the dream every day...;)
At least European tourists still live it going down the 66 doing 55mph on rental Harleys like a flock of sheep looking for "freedom & adventure"...LOL
Born to be wild on the magic carpet ride...
If you want to be happy for a day get drunk. If you want to be happy for a year get married. If you want to be happy for the rest of your life ride a BMW...:beerjug:
