S1000XR

I might try that when I next need some chain lube.:thumb

I currently use Wurth high performance dry chain lube, and it's brilliant.

Worth is certainly a good name in the trade ... I have no experience of it/them.

The 'Castrol OR' is excellent. Doesn't fling off at all, at all at all :aidan
After a day on the bike, 180 to 200 miles the chain rollers are still bearing grease. It takes two or three days for them to turn shiny, when you just know that it's metal to metal contact

I probably over grease mine :blagblah

Whenever I wash my 'bike, before I start I clean the chain with a good chain cleaner (O ring friendly) NOT WD40 .... wash my 'bike as normal, hosing down the chain. Then I might wipe the chain down with a rag soaked with WD40 (I actually use Putoline 1001 maintenance spray) but not soaked enough to get on the O rings. When finished spray with the Castrol OR (a few of us on here buy it by the box and divvy up) :thumb

Sounds like a long process, but it only takes minutes in reality :D

:beerjug:

Ps .... I see that every bike on the MotoGP lineup were chain driven :D

After having GS's for a few years, the idea of a chain was quite daunting, but in reality, it's not a problem. After the initial wash last week, there's been no more fling!:D

Let me know next time you buy some of that Castrol, and I'll have a can off yer.:thumb

It's the standard one, same height as the original seat. I could have got away with the taller seat though.

apart from the fact it looks better, is it more comfortable?
took the xr for a test and for me the only downside is the distance from seat to footpegs so the taller version would be an advantage

Yep, it's a bit more comfortable than the standard seat, but I mainly bought it for the looks.:green gri

The HP rearsets come with adjustable pegs, and are on my list of things to buy, as a bit more legroom would be nice.

Stop it !
I've been looking at those with deep desire but fuck they are pricey

I sat on one briefly today, may get a test ride later this week, jeez the stock seat appears not very comfortable, and the low seat option is even worse, think of a scaffold plank wrapped in gaffer tape and you're in the right area

The seat isn't that bad, you just have to get used to it! It's certainly not as plush as the GSA seat.

It will soften up over time, I had a replacement on my GSA after 3 months and the new one was like a brick compared with the old one it just shows how much they soften and you get used to them.

Terry
PS pick my XR up on the 27th

I took it for about 120 miles on the test ride and it was fine, in fact better than fine it was very comfortable. I am hardly a lightweight.

Slippery slope :)

I was up the stelvio with an XR the other day, its owned by BMW motorrad Germany, low bike, its a missile but feck it vibe'd like crazy :( dissapointed its only got 2 settings on suspension - road - dynamic, in dynamic it Stiffens things up and road (supposedly softer) is harsh, not as plush like the gs :(

In one of the reviews, someone mentioned that there are more suspension adjustments that can be made in the computer. I'm not sure if thats correct, as I haven't read the manual yet, but will have a look for you.:thumb
