Hi all, trust you're enjoying the weather.

Am about to go back to GS's (my 4th in 12 years) by chocking in my 2013 RT 90 Anniv for a 2013 GS TE which has a sat nav cradle. I am due a new sat nav and willing to get a bike orientated one. I've tried the Garmin 350 and although I'm not as used to it as a TomTom I was fine with it. I have read that the Garmins (660,665?) fit straight on and charge but don't interface with the thumb wheel. Frankly if the BMW units are £200 more I'll do without the thumb wheel. I use Tyre to Travel but also have used Basecamp and find Tyre easier to work with especially putting waypoints in. I'd rather not faff about taking the cradle off and changing wiring etc.

So, questions are do the 660 or 665 fit and charge? Is the 665 worth the extra for occasional use? What else, if anything, is suitable that fits straight in?

Thanks all.

Both the 660 and 665 will fit the cradle and receive power from the bike. The thumb wheel will not work.
(Had this confirmed by both Garmin and BMW)

If your wallet can run to the expense you would be better placed to get the Nav V which fully integrates with the bikes electronics and provided load of on bike info

I'd definitely consider the nav v. You can pick one up from fridemoto for a shade over £400. Delivery is a couple of days, based on experience.

It's a much more modern device. It is a lot faster at calculating, has memory to store maps for all of Europe (unlike the 6xx), gets updates 4 times a year (6xx uses older NT maps which are twice a year), integrates with the wheel and has some quite useful features like picking up traffic/weather/live parking through your phone connection.
