We recently had to disconnect our computer to take it to get it repaired. Now that everything has been reconnected, the scanner won't work. It seems that the scanner software must be re-loaded however we can't find the CD anywhere. It's a 5yr old Acer scanner. Will ANY scanner software do, or must we find/buy a dedicated Acer CD? I can't seem to find the address for Acer in Google either. Frustrating.

it depends on what you mean by "won't work" - it may need a "driver" for it to be recognised by the Operating system.
Are you using XP? - once the driver is installed and working then you should be able to scan without any other software.

Have you checked http://support.acer-euro.com/ ?

No, we have Windows 98. Having been disconnected from the computer, the CD whatsit needs to be re-installed (we are told). Thanks for the link; I'll have a look.

I've just been on the phone to Acer UK and they recommended I downloaded a driver from their website www.acer.co.uk however my model scanner (6678-BWG) wasn't listed. Hopefully an email request to them will be successful. Thank you.
