Scenic GPS Map app - Part 2

Indeed.

If you are going to use Kurviger, its algorithm can sometimes put in a deviation off a ‘sensible’ twisty route, just for the sake of it.

Zoom in a bit and correct any obvious and needless deviations.

I think, though I have never tried, you can then run the Kurviger route through a Kurviger ‘navigation’ app on a phone. Or, as it will export a GPX file, run the route through any other suitable app or device.

Top tip. Thanks.

I’m just using it on my iPhone on a cradle on the bars. I used the free scenic and it brought me home in a convoluted way 😂. Nothing really planned about it. I just like going on new roads and it does that well.

This is most odd! Kurvidger. It's being a tinky winky! I've the app on my phone and it just refuses to work in any other language than German! I've logged in on the laptop and set my preferences - same in the iPhone settings! Now, it's not really a problem, I can figure out what I need to but I might need to send an email to them. Anyway, off out again today. Nice to be back on the bike and have my abs back new rubber etc. Weather is pleasant today as well.

AI says:

The app frequently defaults to German because it is developed by a German company. You can change the language directly in the app or through your phone settings:

Option 1: Inside the Kurviger App
    • Open the app and tap the Kurviger menu icon (the three horizontal lines or logo) in the top-left corner.
    • Tap Settings (or Einstellungen if it is in German).
    • Tap Language (or Sprache).
    • Select English and close the menu.
Note: If you are on an iPhone and the app continues to speak or display in German despite changing this setting, this is a known bug. Try the step below.

Option 2: Through iPhone Settings (iOS)
    • Open your phone's Settings app.
    • Scroll all the way down to your app list and tap on Kurviger.
    • Tap Preferred Language (or Sprache).
    • Switch it to English.
    • If English isn't an option, go back to the main Settings menu → GeneralLanguage & Region and make sure English is added to your preferred languages list.
Tap away, you (probably) can’t break it.

I didn't think the Kurviger App worked through Android Auto? Doesn't it need to do that to be seen on the Carpuride?

i have used most of the twisty/curvy route plotting software at one time or another, some times with good results and other times not so, what i tend to do these days is just bring up google maps get my glasses on and do lots of research, not just on the map but areas around where i wish to go it works for me. Well when i say i that means the big gal does the research i do the route.

I don’t use it for travel just local adventure. I’m lucky to live on the south side of Dublin, the bit beside the dublin andWicklow ‘mountains’. Some gas small roads. Elevation, 30+ degree up and over to the left and right above eye line stuff. That’s what I’m looking for and scenic sorted that for me. No idea what it’s like for actual route planning but I just want instant gratification and it does that.

Bought a cheap car play unit earlier. Ball mount. Has cameras. I’m hoping it’ll actually let me monitor my rear at a glance. The varifocals and rear mirror on the sally gap are a lot to be dealing with. Poor guy on the busa. I was a bit embarrassed but he did give a hearty wave when he got past…

Play around with Calimoto - similar gig to Kurviger. I've used it for local spins and when touring. It was awesome in Norway as we ended up on class roads way off the beaten track. You can pay for it weekly so it's great for selective use.
