Sunday night teaser... (its had me going all day) I've had my swing arm off and replaced the bearings and drive shaft... took the exhaust off to do it.... I do remeber taking this screw out as it's not a torx one and I had to get a Alen key... and I'm thinking it was rear-drive wheel side for some reason... but Its all back together and I'm buggered if I can find a home for it...
Even had the wheel out, mud catcher and brake back off to look... but nothing? was thinking road speed sensor, but thats smaller and in?.. no idea... I put it with the wheel bolts so must have come from that side... M6 but as I say, Allen head?... checked the exhaust but not that??.. any ideas

thats what I was thinking... but 3 screws hold it on.. one long, and two short... all torx.... did spend a good 10 mins looking at the thing when I took it back off... its in two halves screwed together to give it mass / strength... Ideal place for it, but allas, no....
I'm thinking something BMW don't make, thats why its a Allan head?... but I don't have anything after market in that area... just removed a hugger but it went onto 3 bolts on the rear drive??..

I agree that it’s not an original BMW screw so must be from a farkle of some sort

I agree... No empty holes so not sure where it came from... All very strange?

That's why I took the brake back off... But nothing there????

Swing arm and shock off... bevel box, exhaust... pulled bearings from swing arm...replaced... pulled ball bearing from bevel box pivot.. replaced.. re-lubricated the needle pin bearing as it was good.. replaced prop shaft.... and re-assembled...

did have LHS heater grip off at one point whilst this was going on... but nothing m6 in there?

Second post down... But I'm still thinking that area.... Only 3 on it unless I can't see it for looking

No.....second post is referring to the spade that covers the back wheel and is fixed to the FD.

Mudsling fixes onto to underside of the seat with 2 screws and goes down between the rear wheel and the shock. The screws that come in the kit are black

Ok, I’ll come clean. When you popped back in the house for a cup of tea, I snuck into your garage, and put the bolt there. If I see someone’s garage door open when I’m out and about, I often just leave a rogue bolt at the scene. Hours of fun.:D

Think you have !.. LOL.. I've never had 'bit's left' before and I've done Borg-Warner 35 Auto boxes, V8's etc.. it just don't happen.... How can a swing arm result in bits left FFS.... :banghead:
TBH I've stopped looking now but the post above is interesting... on the pic it shows an item 3... will have to check this out....
