My new 2010GS which i have owned for 2 weeks has a tiny split on the front edge of the seat.:(
Has anyone else experienced this or am i just unlucky..
After speaking to my local dealer im hopeful BMW will replace it.

Me...Excited!!

Excited!!! When i picked it up i was wondering have i made the biggest mistake ever:eek:

I must admit it is growing on me now but it will not go past 138mph on clock no matter how hard i try:augie:augie

Maybe thats what split the seat.........

What did they say that made you 'hopeful' rather than 'certain'?

Glad to see a sensible method of running in a new Boxer engine.:)

"Hopeful"

Im "only" hopeful as he said, "bring the bike to me and i will take a look at it first"......

Photos wont do,bringing the seat to him on its own wont do,i must bring the bike to him so he can look at the whole thing complete:confused:

To be fair to the dealer, its not his fault, its BMW policy apparently.....

They seem to have some strange ideas of BMW Policy.
According to them it was BMW Policy that I could only test ride the R1200GSA for an hour (30mins out + 30mins back).
Then Duffys Motorrad Dublin offered to let my mate take the R12GSA for the weekend:nenau

Quite plainly a defect - accept nothing less than a replacement.

Warranty

I have a 2007 R1200GS no problem with the seat except its bloody hard on my ageing arse. Also on motorway trips a ridge sticks into my bum at the back of the seat. As far as replacment goes i wouldnt see a problem as BMW are pretty good about these things.I had mirrors that rattled like buggery at tick over, they replaced them without quibble.
Can anyone give me advice as tio which is the best seat replacement without spending a fortune.

Seat update

Brought Bike for Local Dealer to inspect seat last night and they will replace no problem:thumb2,but this is the funny bit:-------
I have to bring Bike back to Local Dealer (2 hour return journey:mad:) for one of their mechanics to fit:confused:

Now i could see through this if it did'nt involve me turning a key half a turn to remove a seat but its BMW policy apparently to treat their customers as dumb:censor:

Not the dealers fault as he is only following procedure, but i was never treated like that with the Japanese manufacturers..(but then you never had warranty issues with them:augie)

Now all would be fine if the dealer was just round the corner but a bloody boring 2 hour (x 2) ride aint much fun..

If this is std "BMW Policy" then it will be a short term relationship:rob.....

Tell that to my 2000 mile old VFR1200 riding friend who's bike has to go back in due to a recall related to unexplained swarf being found in some engines. Popular opinion is that it'll just get a new engine rather than spend the time stripping it. Trouble is, new VFR1200 engines aren't that thick on the ground....

Sounds more like your dealer is a total jobsworth. I have picked up parts that needed replacing under warranty and just taken them home to fit myself as its quicker than booking the bike in.
