If its for a R80 G/S (NOT the later GS) then it WILL fit the ST.
as the subframe, tank, seat etc are exactly the same on the ST as on the G/S.

... the later GS ones (no slash) will fit...sort of, but will leave a gap at the back of the tank, and will look crap.

If you get one, and decide you dont like it, can I have first dibs to put it on my ST ? (oh, and buy it with a black cover or it'll look shite on a ST IMHO).

and when did you get the ST?.... and Pictures, we likes pictures......

Yes it will fit. Buy whatever colour you want. And yes, we need pictiures of the new ST.........

Congrats on the purchase. Great bikes those, rarer than the G/S. And much better on the road.:thumb2:thumb2

The rear brake shoe operating spindle has a (20mm x 2mm) 'o' ring to stop the oil in the final drive leaking into the drum. It's an easy fix. Later models had a much better system that seperated the two ares. It may not be your final drive oil seal that's gone at all.

thanks i am allso thinking it may be this i will investigate further

Just 5 months later….

A quick experiment tonight suggests that something, probably the ST mudguard is different to something on a Kalahari/basic back end. The front of the rack hits the top of the mudguard before the catch is in the lock. Probably nothing a hot air gun and pressy-thing can't fix, or the right mudguard.

I'll be seeing the Kalahari at the weekend so I'll see if the mudguard or mounting of the mudguard are different.

I think it's just that the tanks longer Mark.

If you take the tank off it should all fit.

Ahhh…

So an ST tank is same length as a G/S and longer than a Kalahari? Is a Basic tank the same length as ST then, or same as a Kalahari?

I'm interested as there was a basic tank (or stickers for a basic on a tank) on e-skip, and I fancy a spare for the ST, so it can be a 'convertible' to take trail wheels, mudguard, bodywork and stuff for winter.
