has come on, bike has done 3400 miles, is approx 16 months old and was serviced at 1500 miles by selling dealer (Douglas Park) seems a bit odd to come on now

Any ideas ?

The way I understand it, forgive me if I'm wrong, when the bike is serviced a date is entered when the next service is due regardless of whether it has covered the mileage specified between services.
If the bike came with a service history have a look in the book, should have a mileage when service carried out, mileage next service due and the date. Can only be reset by BMW or someone with a GS911 diagnostic tool.
Regards Dave

Book has two stamps, next service due 7520 miles 6000 miles after last service, done at 1520 miles. I'll call Douglas Park to see what they did and if they re set it, but the mileage doesn't add up.

Hi Busy Builder, Not sure if this any help, but when I took my 2012 R1200R in for a 6,000 mile service and looked over the shoulder of the guy who put the bike on the computer, I seem to recall that there were options for when the next "service due" light when resetting. I think they were either mileage or date. RobA.

6000 miles or yearly servicing, whichever comes first.
I'm gonna guess you last service @1500miles was about a year ago

No that's just it, it was May......but........thinking about it the first service was august, seems they haven't re set it.
