I got a call from BMW on Friday telling me it was time to book the bike in for the service and MOT. The only problem is they don't have a tech in Aberdeen anymore so they could book me into Dundee! Is there anyone else in or around Aberdeen that I could use? My right hand heated grip has Needs sorted.
Thanks,
Sixpack

Unsure if your bike is under warranty but Stuart at Ecosse (old McGowans) was BMW trained and I used to take my Mamola to him.

They (Ecosse) had an issue with mechanics last year (as every garage in Aberdeen has at present) and they mucked me about for several months, so I personally will not use them again but that doesn't detract from Stuarts professionalism and knowledge.

The guy outside Ellon obviously does all the work from his house and he is apparently well respected. I did call him last year in an attempt to get some work done on the Mamola (after the debacle with Ecosse management) and he said that he was so busy that he wasn't taking any more work on; that may have changed by now.

I am not keen to publish a private individuals name and home phone number on here but feel free to contact me if you wish his details.

Keith garage has serviced a couple of bikes of pals of mine, and both guys rate the service and advice provided. They seem to have the right diagnostic kit as well.

The owner is a BMW addict (go see his collection in the showroom), so he sorts them and rides them.

Just my mutterings

As Steve T has said, give Keith garage a call. Les has several BMs himself (including HP2) and knows them inside out, they set my 1150GSA up and it's running sooo sweet :D

Yes, I think that the lure of better money and half the year off has certainly been a big attraction for a lot of mechanics; I have been reliably informed that Town and County lost 6 of their 18 mechanics in June this year to Halliburton.

I happened to drive past Kieth garage yesterday (twice) and there looked to be a well stocked showroom. I didn't have time to stop (picking up new pup from Aberlour) but I think I saw a Triple Black GSA in the front window.

Thanks for the advice gents. I got the bike MOT'd in Kintore so only the service and the broken heated grip to go. BMW got back in touch and offered to take it to Dundee for an extra £40 which is not too bad. Not sure what option I'm going to take as I do fancy trying the garage in Keith.

Theres a guy in oldmeldrum round the corner from the medical centre that MOT’S & services bikes. He’s got a good rep and is always busy.

Thanks for that, I didnt know Neil at Craibston tyres did servicing. Now phoned and booked in with him for the service. I've always used him for tyres for all my bikes.

He's still working, for someone else though. I think it might be Shirlaws? JC Aberdeen had an apprentice as their sole bike technician the last time I asked.

Don't think JC Aberdeen have much interest in bikes from what I can tell. From all the positive reports Keith Garage may well be getting my business next year…especially with BMW's servicing prices!

I agree. They only did servicing there because Craig said he wouldn't move to Dundee. Thought they might have opened a bike showroom when they built the new Mini showroom.
