To be fair to them - I had been warned in advance that the first service was going to be £100 so I'm not complaining about the cost - I knew it upfront.

BUT

When I got back home I took a close look at the invoice just to see what my £100 bought me in terms of a service and I think that Vines have discovered the answer to all these pesky customer queries - the invoice only has one line item on it:-

First 600 mile service, £86.96 + vat = £100.

...............

Yeah - I know I should have asked while I was there but after not being able to work for the whole morning since they had ripped out the complementary wi-fi beforehand without thinking to let customers know I needed to get back home quite urgently.

Next service might require some research before deciding on where to take it.

North Oxford 12000 mile service £232

12,000 mile service (nearer 13,000 miles showing on clock) local dealer
£141 without shims including loan bike and extra insurance cover.

The loan 800GS had the new BMW comfort seat, did 180miles non stop on it, it is comfy, but not any more comfortable than my reworked seat from MotorCycleSeatWorks Bradford , and it does not allow any movement backwards on the seat so not for me.
The loan bike was a magnesium one so I can definitely confirm that the Bumble Bee is quicker!!

Called BMW Battersea this morning for a 6k mile service - they quoted me £350

Then called BMW Vines and they quoted £150 - that's more like it.

Makes you wonder how many people they (BMW Battersea) rip off like that.

12K Service today at John Clarks Dundee £205, Included £12.77 charge for a loan bike (K1300S). Also had the front spindle replaced as a recall item.
