Servicing Costs................. Quotes !!!!!!!!

Fact is if you have an invoice from a BMW dealer then it comes with 2 year AUB warranty. The only exceptions might be if they’re selling a non-BMW, or they’re doing shady sold-as-seen back door deals - but I doubt it as BMW would stamp that out immediately.
As you correctly say it’s the dealer’s responsibility to register with the mothership. IMHO I wouldn’t give such a dealer any more of your time or money once this is sorted. If you can, go elsewhere. This is why prices are on the high side on used sales at dealers - covers the AUB check when they take a bike in, plus the 2-yr warranty.

Well just confirmed with another dealership that as of 10 am today ( via vrm and vin number) that the bike has not now nor ever has had the 2 year approved used warranty taken out on it.
Official complaint made with dealership , refused to speak to motorrad manager and the dealer principal will apparently be getting in touch
You really could not make this sh#t up

There you go, the bike they sold you was/is not an AUB bike

Let's hope it was just a clerical oversight:blast:D

Well picked the bike up today, what a suprise the bill suddenly went down to £283 with no explanations.

This sounds like someone higher up the food chain in the dealer (service manager rather than service assistant; dealer principal rather than service manager) got involved and came down on your side. A given quote can be varied by about 10%, unless they find something unexpected. At which point they have to phone you and talk it through. If that didn’t happen, which it obviously didn’t, then any extra charges are down to the dealer and not you.

Sadly with most bike dealers of any brand I’ve learned never to assume that anything that can be messed up will not be messed up. Best one was dropping off a VFR1200 service end of day, dealer knows I live miles away, loan bike was booked, when I get there, nothing provided or available and would sir like to take 3 trains and a bus home. Needless to say I got back on the viffer and told them to stuff the service :blast

Well the bike is back, the warranty is now confirmed as being in place and it has had a brand new BMW crate motor fitted . I am happy that it is repaired.

The old motor as well as having a camchain and tensioner on its way out had apparently knocked out the bearings in the balancer shaft mechanism and also had buggered up the nikasil coatings on the bores and damaged the pistons.

Reckon the previous keeper may well have known there was a problem looming and part exed it at less than 29 months old and with under 10,000 miles on the clock .

Well at least it has utilised one of the 100 or so f800gs motors tha BMW Germany has in stock plus the new engine is much smoother and quieter

Well done, and if you paid towards the replacement you'll have a 24 month warranty - or at least that's my understanding.
