I've searched and searched the forum as I really didn't want to ask this question and make myself look a bigger prat than normal but I can't find the answer so...

I'm obviously too stupid to have ESA as I can't figure out how to alter the pre-load.

According to the Rider's Manual I turn on the ignition, press button '1' (the ESA button) to adjust damping and it cycles through Norm, Comf, Sport. Yep, that works.

The next section talks about adjusting the pre-load and tells me to start the engine then repeats the instructions above which gives me the same results as above - it cycles through the three damping settings.

The manual promises that on page 95 I'll get a detailed description of ESA but all that is actually there is a short section about off-road settings.

I'm guessing I've missed something obvious but I haven't a clue what it is. Will someone lighten my darkness please?

Thanks.

Once you've started the bike, press and HOLD the ESA button. It should then go from rider only to rider + luggage. Press and HOLD again = rider + pillion etc.

I thought I'd tried that but I obviously did that when the engine was off as your instructions worked perfectly.

Thanks very much.

When the wiring broke to the front shock on my bike and it would not let me go through the solo, solo with luggage and two up sequence. It would still select comfort, normal and sport.
