Grief, they're even worse. The Givi are simply the wrong shape to suit the bike - too rounded and the top box is too big.
But those ally boxes with bits bolted on the outside are simply "POSER". It will be the 4 inch exhaust off a Clio next.

I know this is an old thread but and you've had them a while but you did ask so........they're blurdy horrible.
I don't like the ubiquitous black plastic rounded blob luggage anyway, but I think they look particularly ugly on a GS, completely at odds with the look of the bike.
Mind you, I saw a pair of BOOM trikes at a rally last year, all custom and chrome and they'd stuck a couple of Givi panniers on the top of the back, and that really did look ridiculous!

Each to his/her own. In my view all panniers look shit on a bike, but they work better than a bin liner full of clothes wrapped around the back wheel. Reminds me of a mate of mine with a z1300 who got to Le Mans and found the exhaust had burnt a big hole in his tent. He changed his mind about placcy boxes after that. Ultimately, it`s your bike. do what you want and don`t give a stuff about what other people think.

Hard Luggage is always going to be an emotive subject.IMHO,this style of equipment is OK for the GS/Ally Wheels with its more Road orientation,with the Spoke wheeled GS/GSA looking better with Ally Boxes.
I've got the BMW topbox on my GS,purely for the odd occasion,TT Luggage goes over Freight so i Travel Light.I dont see me doing the "Long Way" to ANYWHERE.

Setting off for Llangollen.
Got there, dropped off the panniers, and I'm ready for unencumbered riding.
Alot better than lugging around all these permanently attached things
The beemer rallye suit looks so bad- so 1990, so star trek, the flip top helmet too!... what ever happened to proper biking, pissing in your jeans, growing a beard, eating roadkill, burn-outs, snapping a clutch cable and driving 45 miles home crunching through the gears,mud, rain, rust, running out of petrol and pushing it home, polishing your bike within an inch of its life before a rip through the woods,mad max add-ons,pirate flags... bring it back...BMW seems to thrive in it's stereo-type of yuppies on bikes, bank managers with mid-life crisis, bristling with gadgets and sparkling clean branded kit...

I'll join you from today in having an 8 foot wide GS! I've gone for practicality when touring (Mrs can take 2 pairs of knickers now!) over the rather neat looking but not very useful Vario ones I had.
