Has anyone fitted a 5ah Shido YTZ14S battery in their R1250GS ? Or the 4ah Shido YTX14-BS ?

Not the Shido, but I did fit the heavier duty version of the Yuasa YTX14-BS (which is the the Yuasa YTX14H-BS and gives 240CCA) to my R1250GS just the other week. Best price was from Halfords

Try mottobat batteries. I (and friends) have used them for years and had no issues.
Good prices and good batteries.

The Shido is a lithium battery and no comparison to the others.

Replaced the battery on my 1250 last week. I did consider a Shido as they're light and relatively cheap.

In the end I decided against it for a number of reasons, the main one being that (currently) the bike sits outside and is used all year. The ability to start in freezing temperatures concerned me.

In the end I opted for a Yuasa GYZ16H - spins it over much quicker.

The Shido weight saving is around 1% of the total weight with this rider and gear on board.

Ducati riders will pay £300 for a carbon part that saves 0.15% of the total weight of the bike and rider!
