Shopping list for new bike?

Ok I’ll be picking up my GSA next month and want to get it ready for a 3 week euro tour asap. I’ve been putting together a shopping list at Nippy Normans and would appreciate any comments or advice you may have on my choices. Or if there is something else that would be of benefit please let me know.

Shopping list so far:

Mud sling – Seems like a must have, something that should come as part of the bike IMHO.
Front fender extender – Again we shouldn’t need to fit these but they seem to make a lot of sense.
AC50 – I like the idea of this, anyone used it?
SW Motech Electronic tank bag (with all the stuff to fit it and the map pocket) – This is a high cost item. It’s something I’m really not sure of the potential value of? I’ll be taking a web book and IPhone and thought this would work fine for charging on the road. Maybe there’s a more cost effective approach?

Need to get a puncture repair outfit, like the rats tails type as have used them on 4X4s to good effect.

The bike is coming with GPS, panniers & top box plus the liners. Yes the cost is crippling, it just seems to go on and on and I’ve not even got rider pillion com set yet. I would rather take the pain all at once though and set the bike up right.

Better seats! you rear will be sore after 100miles or so and the pillion will be forever sliding in to when you brake, kehedo are great for both these issues Keep spending!

ACF50 ...Don't use it never have,great at preventing salt induced corrosion I'm told,best left for winter then.......

Electronic Tank bag......no direct experience but sounds like it will suit your storage and charging needs

Compressor and puncture repair kit......if you take it you won't need it but if you don't....you might

Consider fitting a louder horn ( an essential for European cities) Stebel Magnum fits easiest but Nautilus is louder still (both from Nippy's along with wiring harness) also consider a H.I.D. headlight conversion from Les Wassall http://www.hid50.com/

Get familiar with the workings of your gps,lay out your luggage well before the trip and then put half of it back in the wardrobe ,take your documents and a spare ignition key,take lots of pics and have fun

Thanks guys, order is placed. 2 Wheel Humvee thanks for the links. I managed to spend way more than I thought I would on stickers. The Hid lights will have to wait though. As for a replacement seat.. I'll have to see how uncomfortable the original one is.

Maybe a cheap solution if you find your original seat a problem.

If you are 6' or over this is a cracking little addition. Having put up with turbulence and wind noise for years I really don't know why I didn't discover it earlier.

I bought the locking one and had it key-coded to my TT locking Zumo mount.

An intercom/headset is a must for long journeys, I enjoy my rides a lot more with music

I'm fancying a Scala G4 when funds allow as I like the thought of being wireless although its hard to fault my 6 year old basic Autocom which does what I need and is still going strong.

Just add shell vpower and ride the thing,your arse will ache after a while reguardless of how much you spend on a seat get use to it and it goes away,don't bother with mud slinger,dumpind the crap scoop from the rear wheel stops a lot of splash back,stickers?wtf,you'll have bunny ears on your helmet next

I'm 6'4" and have one fitted to my GSA, makes a hell of a difference.
I don't find the GSA seat any more uncomfortable that any other bike I've owned. I still need to get off after about an hour and a half to walk round and wake my arse back up

Not too convinced by mine, OK for motorways, but when you're on the twisties if feels like you're sat on a plate of jelly, no matter how little air you have in it

Thanks for all the replies, would have responded sooner but stuck in the sand box again.
Elephantman, bunny ears are ordered….Though I’m a little worried about them as they are white, guess Nikwax or Tech wash or some other kind of waterproffer may keep them clean? Should have just got the pink ones and been done with it.
Slowdown, I don’t have a Tw@t suit but almost did pick one up. They are good bits of kit but just don’t go with the bunny ears, besides I’m nowhere near as hard as Ewan McCharlie. Decided to “Feel the ride” and go with Hein Gericke. My old Dianese just doesn’t cover the parts that have grown.

Will wait and see how we get on with the seats, if there as bad as some say then I've a friend coming from the states who be bringing some extra baggage.

Will be at the Bordering with the Insane, would have done the Hog Roast as well but have another appointment in the sand.

Mmmmmmmmmm thought the same and nearly shelled out cash, but at around 2500kms the seat (or my arse) suddnly came good. All I have is a well fitted sheep skin and have done a number of 1200km/day runs with no problem. Probably a horses for courses thing like screens. All you can do is try it

I'd spend money on a seat above everything else!
Go for a Sargent - expensive but worth it. Two thousand miles in a week can be fun and not torture!

2 x Putnams on their way. If I find the standard seat to be shite then these should get me by. Full time if they are good, if not at least until I can get a Sargent seat in from the US. At 7 quid a pop you just cant go wrong.
