Should I Take This Offer?

Why the need to justify what you do? :nenau

If the bloke doesn't like what you do .. he doesn't have to read your post :thumb2

You go enjoy your bike mate, although Red is the SLOWER version you know :D

Yeah your absolutely right!

But my red is the faster of the two colours you know because apparently the matt grey has a slight drag to it. It's a scientific fact that matt has more drag than gloss. :aidan

WOW are they the same? There not the vario ones but the full alloys ones right? The list prices for the panniers alone was £728 + £386 for the top box - to get both just for just £600 seems really low mate? If they are the same ones then WOW what a bargain but I doubt most other BMW dealers would give that much away on panniers.

Yep, the genuine BMW 1200GSA alloy Panniers - £400 for a pair with coded locks and 2 spare locks for a Topbox

Didn't get a 12GSA topbox as it looks hideous

However I never used the alloy panniers and sold them to the guy I sold the bike to

Couldn't get on with a 2008 12GSA and so glad I kept my 1150GSA which for me was the better of the two GSA's

I must admit I'm having doubts about the panniers only because I'm rarely going to use them but I thought it's better to get them now rather than need then at some stage and not have them. Top box does look abit too tall and square looking? I'm also wondering if I should go for the Akrapovic can or not. I've not heard one but I'm interested - not sure it's a good idea to buy something before you've heard it but I may get a better deal now rather than later - they are £517 retail at BMW.

The top box is usefull takes a full size lid or yer mini shop at the supermarket. The Panniers are too big in town but great for touring .For me the top box gives the flexability I need and liiks better than the Vario ,on an ADV at least My 2p:thumb

Great choice - enjoy your ride :beerjug: I to like the Top Box - not bothered how it looks just love the convenience of it. I do aprox. 1K a month and love every minute of it. If you like/do a lot of night riding (I just love that time) then think about a set of HIDs from Les or Zerocool. Best mod I've done to the bike which like your's is red and loaded. Good luck and ride safe :beerjug:

Dont buy the akro from a bmw dealer. Buy it from an exhaust specialist or the net. They are almost the same, bmw charge extra.
If you dont want the panniers and top box, sell them to me:augie

One benefit of paying BM dealer prices is that if you have BM branded insurance, and the part has a BM part number (like the BM Akro should have), then it'll be covered :)

You've obviously missed the point of my posts as I was never in a position to buy straight away after spending a few thousand on my newly acquired RD and restoring and fixing it. I like to make an informed decision not just go out and spend £13000 lightly. The BMW was always at the top of my very short, short list but I couldn't decide between GS or GSA and nor can some other people who posted either. It was a tough decision and I wanted feedback from real owners to help me through this process WHILST I was saving my money. I had questions and this forum answered them. To be honest I've bought this bike much much sooner than I was hoping for.

PS; I only returned to biking July this year after 18 years of driving and have been off the road more times than not due to restoration and problems after buying an RD350R. My wife didn't want me to buy another bike this year so I'm really lucky to have this beemer this side of Spring 09. So this forum has been a good place to get good info whilst I was waiting. It would have been a completely different matter if I had the money straight away, I probably would have bought one much sooner!

Granted - I prolly did miss the point :mmmm

But IIRC ( in my defence ) you went from loving the bike having ridden it to scrapping it from the list of contenders as a result of the reliability issues ( never had any myself ).

I agree weigh everything up - the pro's and the cons - maybe it all just seemed a bit public 'shall I - shan't I ?' hence I kinda bit a little in a moment of intolerence ( Old age showing ).
Apologies for that.

Truly hope you have a shed load of fun on what is a remarkably capable machine :D

£500 isnt a lot of discount in the quiet preiod. I got mine in august with £300 knocked off and the panniers at what it cost the dealer to get them plus a good price for the 21000ml 06 gsa trade in so i would push your luck and see what else they are prepared to give you. Both bikes are fully speced up apart from the alarms. It is worth a trp to other dealers and play one off against the other

I tried to get as much as I could from them but they were quite scroogey to be honest. They don't like to give anything away! I've paid the deposit now so I am committed. I even asked for a full tank of fuel and that was like asking for FREE panniers and a top box for Christmas! They will only put their maximum £15 in apparently! CRAP really when you think you're buying one of the most expensive bikes out there. Having said all that I asked for £600 off rather than £500, 10% off panniers and top box and free 1st service to which they agreed - I will have to wait and see if they fill the tank cause that was the other thing I asked for?

I get the BMW Motorad magazine, they have said no changes for 2009, and they seem pretty much a mouth piece for BMW.

As has been said before, there is very little logic in buying a 200kg trail bike. We do it cos we feel like it and can afford it. So its pretty much a case of follow your heart.

But if they are giving 500 pound dicount in Nov. I imagine there may be more to come by Jan or March when they really get desperate for sales.

Ring round the other dealers
see who can offer more goodies or more discount
a few nice TT bits ! ! ! !
free service /full tank of fuel it all helps
they are scrating to get sales

good luck

You're going to find this amusing - but when I asked for more the guy said we don't discount them and we've never given this kind of deal away before. And the reason they don't discount or are willing to give me more is that they are not short of sales apparently even now! There's no point in looking any further because if I do find another dealer willing to give me more what can I do about it now? I've already paid £500 deposit and the bike has now been registered?

My bike arrived yesterday. Full tank of fuel. complementary zumo mount which i requested. Free delivery.
Plus discount. well done Wollastons.
Have also been promised a deal on luggage when i purchase in the new year.
I suggest you get on , take delivery and enjoy. THe sums of money you may save by shopping around are small.:thumb2

+1 :thumb2

This threads starting to grow hairs :D

You keep going mate :thumb2

They are good questions. You can always save more money by shopping around .. although some on here are better than others. I think JohnnyBoxer is the best at it.

What's wrong with hairs on a thread anyway :aidan

£500 off an old bike is crap really.

I got £500 off my GSA in 06 when they were just released and I had to join a 3 month queue!!

It doesn't matter what you buy or how little you pay, someone will always be there the next day to tell you they got a better deal.

If you think the deal is good, buy it. The more time you wait the less time you are riding..:beerjug:

LOL old bike!!!! BRAND NEW! They even thrown in the faster gloss red for nothing!

Anyone else thought this? That the adventurer's front end looks like the queen in Aliens due to the screen shape?
